Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Born on February 26, 1964, in Natchez, MS, to Bernadine and Leon Davenport, Valerie began her Christian journey at an early age and was baptized at Lake Providence in Lake Providence, La. She was a faithful member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Hollybrook, Louisiana, where she joyfully served in the choir.
Valerie was a shining example of excellence and determination. She was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1982 at Lake Providence Senior High School and was actively involved in numerous organizations, including the Honors Society, Beta Club, 4H, marching band, and cheerleading. Her achievements earned her recognition in Who’s Who Among American High School Students.
She continued her education at Dillard University, Southern University, and Alcorn State University, where she later dedicated over 33 years of service. Affectionately known as a “campus mom,” Valerie impacted countless lives with her nurturing spirit. She was also honored as a spring 1990 honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma.
Valerie was loving, kind, and nurturing, with a heart for everyone. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, and found joy in life’s simple moments.
She leaves to cherish her memory her parents Bernadine and Leon Davenport, husband Waldo Gallé Jr., son Dr. Eddie Davenport, daughters Jillian and Kayla Gallé, grandkids, siblings, and a host of loved ones.
Her life was a blessing, her love a gift, and her memory will be treasured always.
